What it is

Hybrid connectivity is a layered network of networks: a fast LEO link as primary, GEO/VSAT or L-band as backup, and cellular near shore, all available to the vessel at once.

How it works

A smart router or maritime SD-WAN switches between links automatically based on availability, latency and cost, so the change is invisible to onboard applications.

Why it matters

The payoff is graceful degradation and cost control: important traffic keeps moving when the best link drops, and the system steers bulk data to the cheapest available path.
